Monday Ratings: The Sing-Off Not Flat, Not Sharp

There were some high notes and low notes for NBC’s new musical experiment (The Sing-Off). Although the network saw its best demos in that time period since September (sorry, Heroes!), the Peacock still came in third with both the viewers and the demos last night.
8pm
- How I Met Your Mother (10.2 million, 3.9/11 in 18-49) had an additional 1.1 million lighting up.
- Accidentally on Purpose (9.3 million, 3.3/9) picked up 1 million.
- The Sing-Off (2.3/6) averaged 6.9 million over two hours.
- House* (2.1/6) turned in 6.7 million.
- Jennifer Hudson: I’ll Be Home For Christmas (1.2/3) only drew in 5.6 million for ABC.
- The Vampire Diaries* (0.7/2) kicked off its marathon with 1.6 million.

Here’s a quick look at some of the casting announcements made recently:
True Blood: A list of men have been added to the vampire drama’s third season. Theo Alexander has been cast as Talbot, the vampire king of Mississippi’s boyfriend. Ugly Betty‘s Grant Bowler (Connor Owens) will climb on the bike to portray Coot, a werewolf and biker gang leader. Meanwhile, Marshall Allman (Prison Break) will guest star as Tommy Mickens, Sam’s long-lost sibling.

Monday Ratings: FOX Owns the House

A dance-less ABC and repeat-filled CBS helped FOX take easy wins in both the viewers and the demos last night.

- House (13.3 million, 4.8/12 in 18-49) had the best numbers of the evening.
- How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2.9/8) got 9.6 million feeling festive; Shrek the Halls (10 million, 3.2/8) did slightly better than its lead-in.
- How I Met Your Mother* (2.1/5) registered 6.3 million.
- Heroes (5.9 million, 2.5/6) raised 800,000.
- Accidentally on Purpose* (1.7/4) turned in 5.4 million.
- One Tree Hill (1.1/3) scored 2.4 million.

- Lie to Me (FOX, 9pm): “Cal, Foster and Reynolds go all in to find a missing finalist from the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, where Cal must determine if the other players are being straight with him about the disappearance.” The MIA player later resurfaced after making a royal flush.
- Hoarders (A&E, 10pm): Season premiere. “The opener follows the efforts of an adult son to help his mother, a hoarder whose compulsive behavior led to the son’s removal from the home 14 years earlier.” He was sent away with enough underwear to last him a lifetime.

Monday Ratings: Happy Slapsgiving for CBS

Nothing says Happy Thanksgiving like another slap for Barney Stinson. The highly-anticipated event helped kick off a strong night of comedy and put CBS on top with the demos. Meanwhile, DWTS’ penultimate episode gave ABC a win with the viewers.

- Approximately 20.5 million watched the final three on Dancing with the Stars (4.1/10 in 18-49).
- House (4.5/12 in 18-49) checked in 11.8 million.
- How I Met Your Mother (8.7 million, 3.7/10) hit a season-high demo; Accidentally on Purpose (3.2/8) scored 7.8 million.
- Heroes (2.3/6) saved 5.1 million.
- One Tree Hill* (0.6/2) settled for 1.3 million.

After a few weeks on the bench, House returned in fine form last night. The drama gave FOX a win in the demos yesterday while ABC was first with the viewers.

- House (12.8 million, 5.1/13 in 18-49) had the evening’s best demos.
- How I Met Your Mother (9 million, 3.5/9) did about the same; Accidentally on Purpose (8.2 million, 3.0/7) was off by 300,000.
- Heroes (5.3 million, 2.3/6) hit a new low with the 18-49s.
- One Tree Hill (2.7 million, 1.2/3) added on 300,000.

Monday Ratings: Jay Leno Tanks Against Repeat

Could it really get any worse than this? Although the program faced a CBS repeat, The Jay Leno Show did the unthinkable last night: it went down. The talk show went so far down, it hit a season low in the demos. ABC, in the meantime, took advantage of the decreased competition and scored wins in both the viewers and the demos this Monday.
8pm
- Dancing with the Stars (3.8/10 in 18-49) averaged 17.4 million over the two hours.
- How I Met Your Mother* (2.6/7) pulled in 7.1 million; Accidentally on Purpose* (2.1/5) nabbed 6 million.
- Heroes (2.5/6) scored 5.9 million.
- A special So You Think You Can Dance (2.6/7) attracted 5.8 million.
- One Tree Hill (2.7 million, 1.3/3) hit season highs.
